University of Saskatchewan’s 100th Anniversary Lily: In 2002, the University of Saskatchewan received a very special centenary gift — a lily that bears both its name and colours. Donna Hay, Plant Sciences research technician and part-time lily breeder, presented the institution with Lilium 'University of Saskatchewan'. This Asiatic lily, bred for its white, gold and green colours, is registered with The Royal Horticultural Society in London, England. The U of S lily is a hardy plant with up-facing flowers, and grows about two-and-a-half feet tall. It blooms in July and is white with a deep blush of gold at the mid-petal. The nectary at the base of the petals is green. ($10 per bulb)Gwyneth Evans: A brand new Alberta bred, speckled, outfacing, peach-coloured Asiatic lily. Gwyneth is a feathery foliaged, wind, rain and disease resistant lily that came first in its class at the 2006 North American Lily Show in Wisconsin. Gwyneth produces a profusion of long lasting blooms in mid to late July. Developed by Dr. Evans and named after his mother. ($6.00 per bulb
